Our aim is to increase economic growth and prosperity within North Somerset by providing practical help and advice.

This includes supporting local businesses and attracting funding and investment to the area in a bid to create new jobs.

The local economic climate has shifted in recent years with a new focus on the finance sector with a growth in banking, insurance and information technology evident across the district.

We are also in the process of undertaking major regeneration projects including an £11m programme to enhance Weston-super-Mare's public spaces backed by the South West Regional Development Agency.

However, the area has benefited over the years from a broad industrial base which has and still include employment within the defence, engineering, food processing, printing, agricultural and hotels and catering sectors.

All this adds up to making North Somerset a great place to do business.

We are here to help local businesses grow, deliver services and promote North Somerset as a prosperous location for investment.

We work alongside our planning, licensing and transport services to support the local business community.

We provide advice and assistance for new business start-ups, on European directives, locating land and premises and on training courses.

We also produce a range of business publications including our Business Guide and Directory, Business Matters and North Somerset Offer.
