South West England has one of the fastest growing economies in the UK with GDP increasing at a greater rate than most other regions, highlighting how productive the region's workforce is. In fact, this is just one of the reasons why the region has already attracted many market-leading companies including HP, Aardman Animations, Orange, Oxford Instruments, Rolls-Royce and Claverham, to name a few.

Weston Super Mare Jobsfair and Information Day

Jobcentreplus is holding a Jobsfair and Information Day in the centre of the town and we are sending this invitation in the hope that you will support us.

The event will take place on Friday 20 March 2009 at The Winter Gardens and will be open to the public from 10:00-2.00pm

This has been arranged to enable employers/providers/advice organisations to meet prospective applicants from the local community. We are keen to invite employers with recent/current vacancies to attend the event. People who attend will be able to find out about a variety of employment and training opportunities and also the support that is available to help them to work.

Coffee and biscuits will be supplied to employers/providers throughout the day.

There will be space for display stands, and a table will be provided for each organisation if one is required. Details concerning parking and a location map will be provided before the event.

There is no charge for employers attending the Jobsfair.

Can you please complete the attached reply stencil to confirm that you are able to attend? Can you also indicate whether you will require a table, power supply and whether you will be bringing a display stand to the event.

If you have any questions regarding the event or are unable to attend, please contact me by phone or email;

Some other key facts about the local area are:

  • An estimated 20,000 people within the working population of Weston-super-Mare currently commute to jobs outside the area. The employment space that will be developed as part of the new community at Locking Parklands aims to address this by delivering an attractive place to live and work.
  • Locking Parkland's strategic location with easy access to the M5 means a huge catchment potential of 2.2 million people within an hour's drive time.
  • The Bristol city-region is already attracting a significant number of relocations. It is estimated that an extra half a million people will move into the area by 2016.
