The town has grown rapidly in recent years and looks to continue to develop well into the future. In 2001, Weston had a population of around 75,000 (2001 Census). With approximately 3,000 dwellings having been built since 2001, this figure is more likely to be around 80,000.

The local labour force boasts a diverse range of skills from manufacturing to catering and from agricultural to financial. This is thanks to the local education set up, which has one of the highest exam pass rates in the United Kingdom.

Situated within North Somerset, and only 18 miles south of the City of Bristol, Weston-super-Mare is an enviable geographical location. The opening of the £25 million motorway link road from the M5 Junction 21 into the heart of town in the mid 1990's opened up a number of significant new employment sites, including Locking Castle Business Park next to the M5. It also improved access to established business locations in the town, these excellent road links mean that the Midlands, Plymouth and London are all readily accessible from Weston.
