North Somerset Enterprise Agency Ltd / Business West has been serving our community for 20 years this year and during that time has helped over 200 businesses.

 

For the last 12 years, the Agency has successfully delivered Business Link services in the area on behalf of Business West.  Now, due to an amalgamation of Business Links across the South West to provide economies of scale, a separate Business Link company has been created that covers Gloucester, Wiltshire, North Somerset and part of Dorset.  As the Government gateway for small businesses, Business Link is using one of the Enterprise Agency’s meeting rooms to provide a local Business Link presence on an appointment basis.  Please call Business Link information line for further details, on 0845 600 9006.

 

The Enterprise Agency continues to deliver Business Link’s 3-day Starting in Business course, as well as the Barclays Bank free one-day start-up awareness course.

 

The Agency offers a wide range of additional services including one-to-one business advice and mentoring, business skills development training, specialist support for social enterprises, rural businesses, arts-based businesses and female entrepreneurs and continues to run the very successful North Somerset Business Club.  It provides valuable local presence for Business West and its members by amongst other things co-ordinating the North Somerset Initiative: the collective business voice for North Somerset; and the Agency is an active member of many regeneration programmes currently underway in Weston.

North Somerset Enterprise Agency manages the North Somerset office of  Business West, the regions leading provider of business services and starting in business support. Business West acts works closely with over 25 different business organisations based within the old Avon county boundaries to ensure that business and start-up clients receive the best  possible package if advice, information and training.

All the main partners based across the county are linked together by an electronic network to enable quick transfer of information and client tracking.

In North Somerset the Business West partners are North Somerset Enterprise Agency, North Somerset Council, the Industrial Association, the Weston-super-Mare and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce, the Weston-super-Mare Hotel and Restaurants Association and Weston College.

North Somerset Enterprise Agency offer a wide range of support to small and medium businesses including specific advice on problems related to finance, marketing, general management and future planning, as well as a diagnostic review service.

Qualified Business Advisors are available to give on-going support to companies wishing to expand or develop their businesses and all visits will be followed by a report, recommended actions and further assistance if required. This service is heavily subsidised and is initially FREE to the client.

North Somerset Enterprise Agency runs an annual award scheme in recognition of exceptional young businesses based in the North Somerset area. The award is made in memory of our colleague and friend – Siân Lloyd-Jones – who worked hard to support local businesses in the region over a number of years.

Who Can Enter?

The awards are an exciting addition to the North Somerset Business Club Annual Charity Ball to be held at The Winter Gardens on Saturday 29 September 2007 and will give prestigious and valuable recognition to your organisation. All finalists will receive publicity, which in itself could bring rewards and benefits- it may well be a way of securing new customers and increasing sales.

 

 

 

 

 

If your business has been trading between one and three years at the time of applying, you are invited to submit your entry for the Business Awards 2008. Small firms stand as much chance as larger ones, but entry is restricted to businesses based in North Somerset (businesses that have only made changes to their trading status within the last three years are not eligible).
