AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Weston-super-Mare and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce

Weston Chamber has been in existence for many years and provides an opportunity for those involved in the local business community to both meet, share common interests with, and conduct bsuioness with other like minded individuals and organisations in their local area. The Chamber also provides a forum and respresentation vehicle of their collective interests and a medium for issues of concern to be addressed and structured correspondence entered into with the relevant organisations and bodies.

Weston Chamber focuses on Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding district of North Somerset and Woodspring, from where it draws its core Membership.

The Aims and Objectives of the Weston-super-Mare and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce, can be summarised thus:

Core Aims and Objectives

  • To improve and secure the trading, commercial and economic interests of Weston-super-Mare and the surround District of North Somerset (formally Avon) and Woodspring as a Parliamentary constituancy.
  • To collect and circulate to the Membership relevant information relating to trade and commerce in the area and to utilise modern techniques to offer widespread support to local business. 
  • To advance and promote local commerce development and to assist with facilitating commercial and technical education to Chamber Members.
  • To create and foster goodwill, friendship and unity amongst the business community in general in the context of a common mutual advantage in the success and strength of the local economy.
  • To build and engender strong communication links with other commercial and community respresentative groups in the area and to foster influential relationships for teh benefit fo the Membership.
     
  • To provide a first point of contact and practical support for those wishing to conduct business in the local area or intending to set up a business in the District.

 

The Chamber exists primarily to serve its Members' interests, both in Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area. It is a local independent organisation affiliated with Business West that has over 2,500 Members and as such, is one of the largest Chambers of Commerce in the South West of England region.

The Chamber works to support and promote the businesses of Weston and it's surrounding District of North Somerset. Its main aim is to promote growth in and around Weston and North Somerset through the success of its Members. The Chamber's great strength is its commitment to Weston-super-Mare and its independence. Local issues are dealt with locally, regardless of influence from regional or national authorities and it can react quickly to a whole range of issues which affect the local economy, environment, businesses and business people.

The wide range of businesses within the Membership gives the Chamber an effective voice in representing the views of the Membership at all times. It offers efficient support, and information on a wide variety of subjects to Members and the public alike, whilst offering networking opportunities at both business meetings and social events.

Weston-super-Mare and District Chamber of Trade and Commerce strongly believes that Weston is an environmentally friendly high quality business location with a positive pro-active approach to sustainable growth and a firm commitment to business professional and their employees personal development. The Chamber firmly believes that Weston offers a high quality of life outside the business environment and fully supports North Somerset Council's prime objective in that Weston should be clean, green and innovative culture, with many thriving businesses and good employment opportunities for local people.
