The Retail Skills Network is pleased to offer a variety of cost effective training courses to train and develop your staff. The short courses are tailored to fit the needs of local businesses and are open to owner managers and employees of the independent retail industry in Gloucestershire.
Funding from The Learning and Skills Council and The European Social Fund has enabled the Retail Skills Network to offer these courses at heavily subsidised rates.
ILM Introductory Certificate in Team Leading
Tourism, Hospitality & Retail
(A four-day programme)
This short flexible programme is designed for all team workers, especially those with team leading or co-ordinating responsibilities. If individuals are working in a team with little or no formal training they can benefit particularly from this programme as it provides an ideal start to their ongoing development. The programme will cover:
• The Role of the Team Leader
• Planning and Organising the Team’s Work
• Customer’s Rights and Your Team’s Responsibilities
• Dealing with Change
• Dealing with Performance Problems in Your Team
• Effective Communication
Cost: £60 pp (normal price £300 pp)

Intermediate Certificate in Wines & Spirits
This qualification provides vocational training in a broad range of alcoholic beverages to underpin job skills and competencies in the customer service and sales functions of the hospitality, retail and wholesale industries. The course covers wine regions of the world, how wine grows, and production along with training delegates how to interpret alcoholic beverage labels, assess main characteristics of tasting and advise on choice. This qualification is accredited at Level 2.
Cost: £ 35 pp (normal price £225 pp)
Bristol Course: Commencing 23rd Jan, 2pm – 4.30pm, duration 10 weeks.

Customer Service Ambassador Programme
"Because First Impressions Last"
This new programme introduced by the Retail Skills Network (in conjunction with the Tourism Skills Network) has been developed with industry professionals.
The Customer Service Ambassador Programme aims to raise the standard of customer service throughout the tourism, hospitality and retail sectors in the West of England. It aims to improve the visitor experience of the region and increase the competitiveness of your business.
This programme is based on the popular Welcome to Excellence programme. Participants will recieve the NCFE Level 2 certificate in Customer Service along with certification for each Welcome to Excellence unit.
In addition this initiative will provide delegates with local knowledge to help them in their delivery of outstanding customer service. Delegates will be given the opportunity to visit local attractions and experience visitor services to improve their local product knowledge.
Who?
This programme is of benefit to anyone already working in the retail industry. It is particualrly targeted at employees aged 25 or over working in businesses employing less than 250 people
When?
BristolThree separate courses will run throughout 2007. Participants must complete the full course to gain the accredited level 2 qualification.
